This man never fails to amaze me with his many talents!
A few friends were getting together in San Diego, bringing their original 1957 / 1958 / 1959 / 1960 Gibson Les Pauls to a studio to compare.
Since I do not have one of those, I brought this- and told Joe “it is the oldest ‘Burst present today- a late 1939/40 Gibson EH-185 sunburst, from the very last run of 50 ever made.”
It was tuned to Open E, and Joe didn’t even strum it or check tuning first. He just dove right in, and played better that 90% of my friends that have been at it for years. This final version of the EH-185 is also one of the first electric guitars to ever use an AlNiCo pickup.
Joe has the ability to help put the LAP STEEL back on the map, and has some nice ones in his collection as well. Please encourage him to add a lap number to his live concerts and recordings.
I hope you enjoy it!
