One of my favourite tracks from Neil Sedaka’s 1975 album Overnight Success is this one: his haunting tribute to the great American composer Stephen Foster, with its echoes of that man’s brilliance and his contribution to the Great American Songbook over 100 years ago. Australian listeners may remember it as the b-side to Neil’s slow version of Breaking Up Is Hard To Do (a single which was issued with different b-sides in different countries).
